You know what the nice thing about winter is? It's the hope that spring will come soon. That isn't to say there isn't beauty in winter; the quiet sound snowflakes make as they fall, the whiteness of a fresh snowfall glistening from the trees in the morning as the sun rises, the crunch of your boots as you walk, curling up in front of a blazing fireplace with a mug of hot chocolate, . . .

But waiting for spring. Now there's the true beauty of winter. Knowing that the stark, bare desolate trees will turn exuberantly green, the daffodils and the dogwoods will fill with blossoms, the smell of growth and green and living, growing, moving, scurrying creatures.

Now, that's what winter's all about.
